Barnes off to flyer as Esher fall short

BARNES began the season in dramatic style with a narrow victory at Esher.
In a tight see-saw contest, it was the hosts who opened the scoring with Dan Rowland crossing after ten minutes.
Barnes took the lead with their opening try just minutes later, but it didn’t last long before Pierre Thompson scored Esher’s second of the day.
The visitors took the lead again after 25 minutes, but after a Barnes penalty miss, it was all Esher for the rest of the opening half.
