O Albanians…. 48
Guernsey………. 21
Old Albanians closed out their campaign on a victorious note as they ran in eight tries in an entertaining clash with Guernsey.
OAs started strongly and, despite playing into a strong wind, spent the first ten minutes camped in the Raiders’ 22.
However, it was Guernsey who got the first score through hooker Daniel Morgan from a line-out following a breakout and a 50/22 kick. Owen Thomas converted.
OAs hit straight back with a try for Michael Bond, which Greg Lound converted. The hosts were now dominant and ran in three more tries, the first for scrum-half Elliott McPhun from a quick-tap penalty.
Man-of-the-match centre Dan Lilley found a gap and crossed under the posts before wing Kaz Henderson got the bonus-point try in the corner. That made it 24-7 to the home side at halftime and they started the second half with another try for Henderson following a long clearance kick using the wind. Lound again converted.
Guernsey dug in and were rewarded with the next two tries. The first was an interception for centre Ciaran Mc-Gann and the next came after multiple phases and a quick-tap penalty for wing Oscar Bailey to score in the left corner.
However, OAs finished well with another try for McPhun under the posts, which Lound converted. The final try went to OAs skipper Ash Illston.
OAs finish the season in seventh place, with Guernsey ninth.
