Bury St Eds…………..47

Bury’s victory proved to be as as comprehensive as the scoreline suggests.

The visitors played crisp incisive , with Patrick Robinson and Matt Bursey to the fore, winning the battle up front and retaining possession well.

Bury were soon pouring forward, and it was no surprise when Bursey crossed in the ninth minute, Charlie Reed making the first of his six conversions, three from the touchline.

Five minutes later, Will Christie nipped over and, before the game was a quarter gone, it became 21-0, as Bursey again scored.

The Vikings had barely left their half, but they steadied matters temporarily until on the half-hour Louis Martin got the bonus-point try.

Then a minute before half-time, with only their second meaningful attack, the Vikings scored through Ethan Sikorski, with Matt Hodgson converting.

Briefly after the break the Vikings looked as if they could mount a comeback.

Dan Smith raced 80 metres to make it 28-12 in the 50th minute. But Bury soon regained control, Samir Kharbouch’s try five minutes later quashing any revival hopes. Bursey then completed his hat-trick before Christie completed the scoring
