Bury St Ed’s……29

…… 24

Bury just had enough to see off Sevenoaks in a real see-saw battle.

Oaks were the first to make their mark with two Ben Adams penalties, before Bury’s Charlie Reid responded with a penalty of his own.

The game changed in Bury’s favour when a shoulder barge on Stanway resulted in a penalty and yellow card. Bury kicked to a corner and Fin McCartney made no mistake from the catch and drive. Reid converted.

Two minutes later Oaks’ woes were further compounded with a second yellow card, with the penalty leading to McCartney’s second try.

Oaks began the second half positively and, after a period of pressure, Adams converted a longdistance penalty.

Then, minutes later, a penalty kicked to a corner by Oaks enabled Nigel Gambleton to finished strongly, with Adams converting.

Bury scored next when Shaq Meyers crossed under the posts, again converted by Reid, before Will Attfield extended the advantage.

As the game entered the ten minutes, Oaks began to exert pressure and Bury conceded successive penalties resulting in a yellow card. Oaks kicked to the corner, and a catch and drive resulted in a try for star man Scott Sedgewick. The conversion was missed.

Oaks had the last say and secured a losing-bonus point with a penalty converted by Adams, leaving the Bury coaching team relieved to have secured an unconvincing bonus-point win.
