Bury St Edmunds..40
Hinckley………………25
IN the first-ever league meeting of these two sides, Bury overcame a slow start to run out winners.
Hinckley enjoyed the bulk of possession and territorial advantage and deservedly took the lead with a pair of penalties by Joseph Wilson.
Bury began to show some signs of waking up and scored their first try by local favourite Ruaraidh Williams converted by Charlie Reed.
The momentum of the game began to turn Bury’s way when the Hinckley pack conceded successive scrum penalties that Bury took full advantage of, Joseph Green crossing and Reed converted.
Bury upped the tempo by running penalties and were rewarded for their endeavours with an excellent try for William Affleck, again converted by Reed.
Bury secure the bonus point with a try by Michael Stanway.
Hinckley opened their try scoring account early in the second via Joshua Smith and then Euan Kelly.
Bury livened up and following a series of forward drives from a lineout Craig Stevenson scored.
Adam Johnson pulled a try back for Hinckley, but Bury made the game safe when centre Ciaran Leeson scored another try and Reed added another conversion.
