Worthing……………… 17
Rochford…………………0
TRIES from forwards Jon Whittall and Nathan Jibulu kept Worthing's unbeaten home run going and kept them top of the table.
However, what will have impressed head coach Jordan Turner-Hall most was the manner of the win as these are the matches that win titles. They battled awful conditions to put in a dominant display, spending most of the 80 minutes camped inside Rochford's half.
The opening 20 minutes was a story of missed chances for the home side as lock Will Scholes had the biggest opportunity to score the opening try, unfortunately knocking-on at the critical moment.
However, it didn't take much longer for the hosts to score as some quick thinking from Raiders prop Rhys Litterick to tap-and-go set up flanker Whittall to crash over.
As Mclean converted, the visitors received the first of three yellow cards, with their second coming before half-time.
The hosts could've extended the lead going into the break had Mclean added a penalty to the tally. However, minutes into the second half, the fly-half wasn't going to miss another chance and gave Worthing a 10-0 lead.
It was so one-sided that the only time Rochford threatened was with a missed penalty.
The Rugby Park faithful would have to wait until the dying minutes for another score. As their opponents collected a third sin-bin, replacement hooker Jibulu bulldozed to the whitewash to cap off an impressive performance.
