CLIFTON won an open and entertaining game on a crisp afternoon at Rugby Lane as a Harry Bate double helped the visitors to victory.
They initiated proceedings and forced the pace from the off, scoring two tries in the opening ten minutes through flanker Bate and centre Kieran Griffiths.
Carrying aggressively and recycling swiftly to the backs, they stretched the Sutton defence on both occasions and profitted with scores down the flanks.
