Bury St Edmund..36

…………….31

BURY'S unbeaten home record remained intact but it could have been so different after an admirable away showing by in-form Worthing.

Dan Walshe's try on 66 minutes appeared to have sealed the game for The Wolfpack, but the Raiders refused to die down and late scores by Liam Perkins and Sam Boyland secured two losing bonus points for the visitors.

Bury recovered from conceding a sloppy try from Elliot Luke after just three minutes to lead 17 – 5 at the break courtesy of a debut try for No. 8 Ethan Wilson and a wonderful Alfie Garside score.

Harry Forrest's early second-half try for Worthing was cancelled out by Garside's second before Perkins powered over to bring the scores to to within five points following McLean's excellent conversion.

Bury appeared to have made the game safe when Will Affleck sped onto Kodie Hawkins' deft chip kick to speed over, and then Walshe powered his way over after again following good work from Hawkins.

Having toiled in the for most of the day, the closing quarter of the match saw the Raiders earn several penalties at the set piece. Perkins took advantage to power his way over from close range for his second try and then with the last play of the game, scrumhalf Boyland squeezed his way over to earn a deserved second point as the Raiders forwards laid siege to the Bury line.
