AN injury-time penalty from Fraser Honey gave 14-man Redruth victory against a plucky Dings side who pushed them all the way.

The Reds were reduced in numbers when Lewis Vinnicombe was redcarded for a double yellow card offence mid-way through the second half, but they stuck at it.

Dings took an early lead through a Steve Plummer penalty before Redruth struck back from a neat catch-and-drive scored by Jess Tompsett, bettered by Honey.

Plummer cut the deficit with a second penalty following good possession from Dings.

A flowing move from Redruth, involving both Vinnicombe and Dean Bonds, had Tompsett on hand to bag his second try.

Plummer kicked a third penalty and then added the conversion to Marcus Brooker’s try as Redruth lost Jack Oulton to the sin bin.

Honey kicked a couple of early second-half penalty to put Redruth back in the lead.

Dean Bonds then got his side’s third try to give them some daylight.

Honey’s tactical kicking was a key feature of the game.

Dings roared back to score a well-worked try through Luke Arscott, allowing Plummer to tie the scores.

Oulton saw a longrange drop goal attempt sail agonisingly wide before Honey’s last-gasp penalty from 50 metres saw Redruth home for a crucial victory.
