TONBRIDGE had to survive a second Worthing comeback to take maximum points at The Slade.

They move a point closer to the play-off position with three rounds to play.

They raced to an early lead, courtesy of a Will Robinson penalty and two Ryan Jackson scores, the second from a well-executed catch and drive.

Robinson converted the latter and, with TJs 15-0 to the good, the game looked like it might become a procession.

However, Worthing are always a tough side to put away and Kiba Richards' try, converted by Matthew McLean, closed the gap.

TJs struck again when Hugo Watson offloaded to former Raider Finlay Coxon-Smith, before McLean crossed and converted his own score on the stroke of half time.

Just five minutes into the second half, Raiders had scored again, this time Thomas Miller dotting down and McLean's trusty boot adding the extras to put Worthing a point in front at 20-21.

TJs responded quickly through a Robinson penalty before Jimi Stanford barrelled over following another dominant catch and drive.

Robinson missed the conversion but added a penalty minutes later to give TJs a ten-point lead, which they were to need when McLean scored and converted his second.
