A DOUBLE from Kiba Richards helped Worthing to a thrilling victory over Guernsey in a topsy-turvy encounter in which the lead changed hands six times.

Layton Batiste put the Islanders in front with the first of six Guernsey tries, before Richards crossed twice in six minutes to give Worthing a 14-5 lead.

Guernsey responded with a second try from Batiste, before Lewis Hillier edged them ahead again, but a penalty from Mathew McLean enabled Worthing to go into the break in front.

Hillier crossed again after the restart for Guernsey while Douglas Horrocks added a fifth to the Islanders’ delight as they opened up a 29-17 lead before the hour.

McLean cut the deficit with Worthing’s third try, which he also converted, but Guernsey cancelled it out almost immediately as Anthony Armstrong touched down their sixth.

But the conversion would prove to be Guernsey’s points as Worthing fought back with three tries in the final five minutes.

John Dawe grabbed the first and, with their tails now up, Curtis scored the next for Worthing. In a grandstand finish, Harry Barlow touched down and McLean’s conversion sealed a great result.
