won their fourth match of the season as they overcame in a competitive affair at the Marine Travel Ground. First-half tries from James Stephens and Daniel Smart put the hosts in control before Worthing got back into the game after Liam Perkins’ try. Yet centre Sam Sterling’s try sealed the win, with Canterbury fly-half Harvey Young’s kicking from the tee superb. Visitors Worthing started brighter, with sustained early pressure resulting in a 15th minute penalty kicked over by Matthew McLean. However, these solitary three points were all Worthing could muster from their dominance, and they were made to pay when No.8 Stephens scored a try for Canterbury.

-half Smart then went over after 33 minutes, and when Young kicked his routine conversion, Canterbury had a 14-3 lead at half-time. After Canterbury’s Aaron Cooper was sinbinned for foul play, No.8 Liam Perkins went over the whitewash to get the Sussex side within seven. Despite this Worthing revival, Canterbury scored again only two minutes later, as Sterling scored the hosts’ third try of the day, and although flanker Sean Stapleton was sin binned with two minutes remaining the hosts saw the game out comfortably.

The result leaves Canterbury in fifth place, whilst Worthing lie eighth.
