LI Wild Geese 36

GEORGE Owen scored two tries as Wild Geese ease their fears with a 36-19 victory over Henley.

The first half was fairly even with Irish using their big back row forwards and Henley playing at pace.

A good break by Pete Hodgkinson set up a drive for prop Zaki Chamnaoui to score the visitors’ first try converted by Alex Seers.

With the Irish dominant, the visitors increased their lead immediately when a Henley attack broke down and Owen kicked through and collected to score.

The Hawks responded with a good try from Will James who broke clear with a good hand off to touchdown.

The Hawks came out for the second period with purpose with Dave Clements leading from the front on his home appearance.

After a sustained period of possession, the Hawk finally crossed through Xavier Andre and George Jackson converted to put the home side in front.

Henley extended their lead after a great break from Liam O’Neill allowing Will James to cross for his second try.

The Wild Geese then upped their game and the Hawks lost all momentum, conceding three tries in the last 15 minutes.

Owen scored a brilliant individual chip and collect try, and then further tries from Scott Moore and Seers sealed a vital win for the Irish.
