WIMBLEDON struck with minutes to spare to stave off the threat of for at least another week and boost their survival hopes.

A penalty-ridden opening exchange saw Wimbledon with the early pressure but it was the visitors who opened the scoring from close range through skipper Mike O’Sullivan.

It took the Dons until shortly before half-time to respond when a break down the led to an Adam O’Leary-Blade try levelling the scores and sending the teams into the break at 5-5.

Wimbledon enjoyed pressure early in the second period and eventually crossed for a try from Chris York.

Fly-half James Doe added the extras to put the hosts ahead again.

TJs needed a spark and it came from Charlie Edwards who spotted a gap and finished well. Liam Prescott converted to level the scores at 12-12 with less than 15 minutes to play.

Wimbledon responded immediately with a fine drop goal from Doe but TJs were not done and took the lead again through a Finlay Coxon-Smith try after a fine offload from Nathan Holmes.

Staring relegation in the face, Dons’ back row came up trumps as Jack Flanagan burrowed over from close range.
