A TERRIFIC display by the Bury pack set the stage for an emphatic victory at Hazlewood.

The game’s first points came when Bury scrumhalf Jake Ashby danced through a static Wild Geese defence to touch down from a .

The Wild Geese quickly struck back with a try of their own. The ball was held up over the line and after a quick period of pressure, George Owen touched down.

Bury had the majority of possession, but had to wait nearly 20 minutes for that advantage to count, with prop David Coutts crashing over.

Two quickfire tries for Brad Meeson gave the Wild Geese the lead after 30 minutes, but on the stroke of half-time Bury nudged themselves in front when Sam Bixby picked up a loose ball.

Bury extended their lead within two minutes of the restart, Mark Kohler crashing over from close range.

They extended the lead even further five minutes later, with Coutts again driving the ball over from close range.

Tristan King put the game out of the hosts’ reach with his try, and Salva Lloret finished aneat counter-attack to continue the scoring.

Pete Hodgkinson and Joseph Touma scored late for the Wild Geese but it wasn’t to be enough to get the hosts back in it.
