LI Wild Geese …0 Broadstreet….34

BOTTOM-PLACED Broadstreet produced a wet-weather masterclass as they cruised to superb a five-try demolition of Wild Geese at Hazelwood.

Playing with the wind at their back in the first half, Broadstreet scored after nine minutes when Thomas Walker finished smartly in the corner after a fine pass from Morgan Dawes.

A 21st-minute penalty from Cliffie Hodgson extended the visitors’ lead, and sparked a wild five minutes that took the game away from London Irish.

First, a smart Nicholas Thatcher kick put Nyle Beckett in space but he was cynically tackled without the ball just short of the line, the referee having no option but to award a penalty try and send the infringing Alfred Molloy to the sin-bin.

With Irish reeling at 15- 0, things went from bad to worse just two minutes later when Dawes charged down a clearing kick and scored, the extras added for a dominant 22-0 scoreline at half-time.

Broadstreet picked up the bonus-point score ten minutes after the break when Ben Ritchie dotted down at the back of a rolling maul, Hodgson converting for a 29-0 lead.

Irish fought for a way back into the game but a late turnover allowed Hodgson to move it wide where Walker scored his second try to round off the perfect result for Broadstreet.
