REDINGENSIANS Rams’ set-piece dominance ultimately proved too much for a lively London Irish attack.
The scene was set with a penalty try to Rams for a scrum on six minutes and their forwards gained a second penalty try on 54 minutes. In fact, penalty tries were to be the top scorer of the day.
Despite relentless Rams pressure at line-out and scrum, London Irish were still in the game at half-time largely thanks to the outstanding Peter Hodgkinson pulling the strings from fly-half.
