TWO second-half tries were enough to see Redingensians see off Canterbury, who failed to register a single point at Merton Lane.
The hosts saw Tom Vooght sent to the sin bin after just 15 minutes but Canterbury were unable to capitalise on their extra man.
Jacob Atkins defied the blustery conditions to score the only points of the opening half with a 39th-minute penalty.
A driving maul just before the hour mark was finished off by Oliver Taylor to extend the home side’s lead.
This time, however, Atkins wasn’t able to add the extras.
And the win was sealed by the visitors when Redingensians were awarded a penalty try with 68 minutes played with Atkins adding the conversion.
The two teams may be seventh and eighth in the table but the win, their 14th of the league season and a first over Canterbury since being promoted to National League Two South, moves the Rams nine points clear of their opponents.
Canterbury, meanwhile, will be looking over their shoulder with Clifton and Henley Hawks just one and three points behind them respectively, with failure to get on the scoresheet in this game not doing their confidence any good.
