HARROGATE almost clung on for their fourth win of the season, but Tom Davidson landed a last-gap penalty to break their hearts.
This proved a good local derby, and if the skill level, at times, was lacking the match was high on tension and the result was always in doubt.
Davidson opened the scoring after two minutes with a penalty.
After a sustained period of pressure from Harrogate, Dale worked their way down the pitch and a bungled Harrogate line-out led to Ryan Carlson touching down. Davidson added the extras.
