As the sevens season approaches and the finest school talent don their academy/national jerseys, 15-a-side school rugby is sparse.
Nonetheless, the last semi-final spot in all national tournaments was decided, as Uppingham beat Grammar School at Leeds 34-31 in a thriller to set up a Plate semi-final against Solihull.
There was just one other County Cup quarter-final, in which Lancashire’s Scarisbrick Hall decimated Liverpool College 52-0.
