Trinity kept their hopes of winning back-to-back National Schools Cups alive as they ended Harrow’s unbeaten start to the season with an 18-15 victory away from home.

Max scored to give Trinity the first points, before Filip Edstrom and Josh Bellamy exchanged penalties to give Trinity an 8-3 halftime lead.

A penalty try after relentless pressure gave Harrow the advantage, but Bellamy slotted another penalty soon after to put Trinity back in front. Just after Trinity were back to a full compliment following Roma Matebalavu’s sin-bin for the penalty try, they were back down to 14 as Quinn Singh went to the bin, and Harrow led again as Charlie Cross fed his namesake Griffin in the corner with a clever offload.

But Ollie Bailey’s score, coming after a break from U18s player Connor Byrne, gave the depleted Trinity the lead, and they held on for a magnificent victory.

The WRU National Schools & Colleges Cup were played this week too, with the main event at Parc Y as & Vale College (CAVC) took on Coleg Sir Gar at Parc Y Scarlets.

Sir Gar were in front for much of the contest, they led by 12 points at the break and though CAVC battled back to level the scores at 20-20, Sir Gar led 30-20 with only eight minutes remaining.

But after a penalty and Evan Saltmarsh brought CAVC level, they claimed victory as Evan Prosser crossed with the clock two minutes in the red to spark wild celebrations for the now league and cup double champions.

“I thought our replacements made a major impact and helped us to get over the line in the end. It really was a complete squad effort.” said CAVC director of rugby Martyn Fowler.

Earlier, Ysgol Glantaf beat Coleg Cymoedd to win the Plate Final 24-12 and College edged past Coleg Gwent to take the bowl 40-31 at Ystrad Mynach.
