But captain Chris Robshaw is adamant Quins are a different team now and they have learnt from their mistakes to get the result they want regardless the conditions.
He told The Rugby Paper: “A lot happened since last year, we won the Premiership and became a more mature team.
“We like to play running rugby every time we go on the pitch but we have learnt to adapt our game to the conditions or the team we are playing.
“New Zealand are the best at adapting their game and keep you constantly guessing.
“We know how hard it is to go to Connacht. We know how well they can play as team and the conditions might be difficult.”
The Premiership champions had the best possible start to their Heineken Cup campaign last week with a 40-13 bonus-point win over Biarritz, their main rivals for the qualification.
After two consecutive defeats in the league including, a thumping to the hands of Exeter at Sandy Park, it was the reaction Robshaw and his teammates needed.
He said: “There was a few knocks and niggles but to come away with five points against Biarrtiz is the sign of a good performance after out last two defeats.
“The performance was much improved from the Exeter game so hopefully it got us back on track and we can confirm in Ireland tomorrow.”
