Lions must beware getting on wrong side of ref

WHAT was evident from the high-tempo Chiefs v Crusaders clash played in Suva, Fiji, last weekend was that forward passes in Super Rugby are endemic, and that the golden rule for the Lions when playing against Kiwi sides is to never stop playing.
Refs whistling for a forward pass are a rarity even when they are two feet forward – and so are TMO referrals for the offence.
Where the refs are much stricter is in whistling for offside. During the European Cup showpiece between Saracens and Clermont the creep by both defensive lines went undetected.
