In a game dominated from start to finish by Exeter, Sale coach Gareth Harris admitted it had been a ‘tough day’ for his side at Sandy Park.
“We’re massively disappointed, a really tough day,” he said.
“Today showed that if there are areas of your game that are a little bit off, especially against a good side like Exeter, then it’s going to show on the scoreboard, which it did today.
“We didn’t turn up in the way that we wanted to and we were always chasing the game. We struggled to function and get any real foothold into the game. Our set-piece, particularly the lineout, was disappointing.
