Joe Marler’s big send off was turned sour by Bristol but he still claimed it was the perfect time to hang up his well-worn boots.
The 34-year-old England prop, playing his 286th and last game for Quins, admitted: “I couldn’t do it anymore... mentally, physically, emotionally I am empty.
I would much rather go out now than rather flog a dead horse for the next six months! You know when the time is right.
“I don’t have any plans now. I will just sit and chill and work out what to do next! I don’t regret the decision and won’t be coming back!
