“We’ve been in a position in a few games to win and not quite got over the line, so a big home fixture was important for us to go and get it,” he said. “This was a game we needed to win.
“I’m pleased with the lads – probably more pleased with the set-piece and defensive attitude. When you play Newcastle, you know it’s going to be gritty. That was the big focus of the week and we took a lot of lineout ball from them, our scrum was very good and our defensive attitude five metres out from the line was outstanding.”...
