Johann Van Graan has given Will Butt’s value to Bath a ringing endorsement after handing the 24-year-old back-to-back Premiership starts at centre for the first time in his career.
Butt’s searing break led to Ted Hill’s try in last week’s 38-16 win over champions Northampton, and came up with an assist in the build-up to Ollie Lawrence’s try.
The Dorset-born player also made more tackles than any of his fellow backs and looked the real deal rather than a stopgap solution to the hole left in Bath’s midfield by injuries to Cam Redpath and Max Ojomoh.
