The Premiership wants to be taken seriously, but then makes the cardinal error of not taking itself seriously by trashing its own ‘product’.
How can the Premiership possibly brag that it is the most competitive league in the world when Bath, who arrived to play Leicester at a packed Welford Road as league leaders last Sunday, decided to field a virtual second team?
It was a decision which shows that some Premiership owners, and their directors of rugby, are prepared to treat paying fans with a cavalier attitude bordering on disdain.
