When Alex Coles sat down to watch England’s World Cup semi-final against South Africa last night, he thought about the day 11 months ago when he lined up against the Springboks at Twickenham.
It turned out to be Eddie Jones’s final match as England’s head coach and Northampton lock Coles, who was playing at blindside flanker then, tried to swap jerseys with Springboks’ skipper Siya Kolisi after the final whistle.
