Despite the torrential conditions at Kingston Park making it an unpredictable affair, Newcastle skipper Callum Chick felt their loss to Gloucester on Friday was a win that got away.
The No.8 saw yellow on the cusp of halftime, and said: “100 per cent it feels like one that got away. In the first half, our discipline let us down. We gave them the opportunity to play in the areas of the field they wanted to.
“The weather was pretty horrendous, with the wind behind their back, but that last 20 minutes, we gave ourselves an opportunity to win it.”
