CALLUM Chick was proud of the way Falcons showed plenty of “dog” at StoneX Stadium to salvage a losing bonus point.
The visitors played for over an hour with 14 men following lock Greg Peterson’s red card and No.8 Chick claimed: “It is what it is – you tackle high these days and you run the risk. Greg got red carded and we can’t have any complaints. We just had to deal with it.
“We had a mountain to climb after the sending off and we just couldn’t climb it. But the team showed a lot of dog in the second half.”
Sarries’ hooker Theo Dan, who was on the receiving end of Paterson’s high hit, insisted the leaders were made to fight for the victory. “We’d been a bit slow off the mark in recent weeks but this time we started really well but we went away from our game plan at the end,” he said.
“Some of it came from fatigue – we just need to focus more and when we are tired we need to stay in the game.”
