Northampton hooker Robbie Smith was proud of his side’s ‘gritty’ display in ensuring they finished strongly after giving Falcons a let-off.
“It was the story of our season and how it’s going because we had a real good start to the game and scored some nice tries, but then there was a little let-off period,” he said. “The most pleasing thing was that we did have that let-off period but we came back into it and produced a pretty gritty team performance.
“Falcons played pretty well when we didn’t and they took their opportunities.”
