Sale’s Director of Rugby Alex Sanderson said: “Joe Carpenter was brilliant today. We have seen all those skills and talent in training and in the Prem Cup. He has had to work really hard in the last couple of years to come through injuries but today the door opened for him through an injury to Luke James and he stepped through it. I am chuffed for him.
