Bristol moved to the top of the table for the first time since they claimed first place two seasons ago, but Pat Lam said he was happy rather than satisfied.
Bristol edged London Irish in an 11-try frenzy to go above Sale and Exeter, who take on Harlequins today, and director of rugby Lam acknowledged the performance was a mixture of the very good and the less impressive. “Both teams wanted to play and it was another great game,” said Lam. “I was just thankful we came through and the five points are the most important thing.
