Exeter Chiefs continued their play off push as Jacques Vermeulen scored two tries on his return from injury as Exeter hung on to beat Sale Sharks at Sandy Park.
Exeter raced into a 19-0 lead at half time as Olly Woodburn's opening try was followed by two tries from the fit-again South African flanker.
Hooker Ewan Ashman got one back before Curtis Langdon earned a losing bonus point as the visitors somehow kept the hosts scoreless after the break.
