head coach Steve praised his side for finding solutions in the second half.

“We started the game really well and then there was a tough spell,” he said. “Credit to , they have really good halfbacks and there was some magic in that back line and a tough forward pack that worked really hard.

“In that second quarter of the game they put us under enormous pressure but what really pleased me was the second half.

“We made a few mistakes in the first half but none of that was the determining factor. The message at half-time was just to tweak the plan in a couple of areas, but not much – the players were the ones who said we should make this change. They came up with the solution.”

Bath head coach Neal Hatley said: “We put ourselves in a good position but then we creaked a little at the set-piece towards the 20. The boys out wide were outstanding. Leicester are the top team in the country so to be up with a few minutes left and to lose 24-20 is disappointing.”
