ALAN Solomons did not mince his words as he bemoaned his side’s failure to turn opportunities into points.

“Our fundamentals are not where they should be,” said the director of , whose side also struggled to turn possession into points against last Saturday. “We’ve got to keep working hard on those in practice.

“The essence of it is that we’re failing to finish the opportunities we create, but took all three of their opportunities in the first half.

“We had line-breaks that led to nothing. We created a lot of opportunities in the first half but we never closed them out.

“But we did show resilience and a bit of character to come back.”

Bath lock Elliott Stooke praised the game management and goalkicking of Ben Spencer.

“Ben has slotted into the team and has led from the front,” said try-scorer Stooke. “He barked us forwards around the park and he was superb.

“I joked with him in the week when I saw him practising his goal kicking that it wouldn’t be needed and he said ‘You never know!’ And there he was kicking them from all over the pitch.”
