WE celebrated what would have been Matthew Watkins’ 42nd birthday in style last week with a 100 mile bike ride from Parc y Scarlets to his home town club of Oakdale. Along the way we managed to raise over £15,000 for the Velindre Cancer Centre.
I went on a number of fund-raising rides with MJ before he lost his brave battle against cancer, notably one trip to California. He would have loved to have been a part of last week’s trip, which took in stops at the Liberty Stadium, Principality Stadium, Pontllanfraith RFC, Rodney Parade and finally Oakdale.
