DUNCAN Weir hopes for better luck with Scotland next weekend after failing to sign off from club duty with a win.
The fly-half, called up as replacement in the squad for the Six Nations after Finn Russell was axed for disciplinary reasons, kicked 16 points in Worcester’s defeat but admitted: “We should have won the game so we are kicking ourselves in the dressing room. It was a win that slipped away. We controlled large parts of it and led on several occasions. We needed to be more clinical and ruthless when we got in front. It is always disappointing when the team plays as well as that but fails to get across the line.” Weir, who won the last of his 27 caps three years ago, added: “I’m really looking forward to meeting up with the rest of the Scotland boys and focusing on the game with Ireland.
Hopefully, I will get a chance to play. That’s down to the coach, but I’m honoured to answer the call.” Wasps scrum-half Dan Robson, who missed out on an England Six Nations place, said: “All I can do is play my best for Wasps and keep banging on the door. If Wasps can keep winning it would also help. This was just the result we needed away from home and hopefully we can start climbing the table.”
