ZACH Mercer led the way as Bath battled to the bravest of victories in atrocious conditions – then fired a riposte at those who reckon he only turns up when the sun shines.
On a night when the entire Bath pack earned plaudits for their fortitude and bloody-minded refusal to be beaten, England back rower Mercer stood tall, his highlight being a lungbursting recovery 13 minutes from time to smash Alex Cuthbert into touch by the corner flag.
