ANDY FARRELL is being groomed to become coach of Ireland if the current boss, New Zealander Joe Schmidt, stands down following the World Cup next year.
In May Farrell signed a contract with the Irish Rugby Union until 2020 after playing a key role in Ireland’s fantastic Grand Slam success last season.
He has worked under Schmidt since January 2016 – a month after being shown the door by the RFU following England’s disastrous World Cup performance.
