NEW Harlequins coach Paul Gustard – who received good luck messages from his old boss Eddie Jones in midweek – insists that nobody will be getting carried away with their excellent win.
“There was a lot of nice things about today – cracking weather, good support, good win – but we will be keeping out feet firmly on the ground. It’s one win, one performance, we have won nothing more than this game so we crack on to next week when it’s Northampton away.
“If you had offered me that scoreline in the morning of course I would have taken it. The scoreline was a little flattering but it’s a fantastic start.
“I’m frustrated by the two tries we conceded but what I really liked about our performance was how we took the negative – when we conceded penalties and tries – and immediately hit back.
Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond said: “Fair play to Quins, when they have got their England players they are a very good team. Individually most of our guys weren’t on their game.”
