coach Matt O’Connor was frustrated with a couple of decisions, including the winning try, against them, but admitted they were not good enough on the day.

“There were a couple of big calls by the TMO and we can’t seem to get one at home, which is a little bit disappointing, but that’s for another day,” he said. “You’ve got to take the officials out of it, control what you can control and do a better job.”

Meanwhile, boss Dean Richards refuses to get carried away, despite the Falcons being realistic title contenders.

“If we are going to win the , or stand a chance of winning it, we’ve got to improve on our setpiece,” Richards said.

“There’s a long way to go and we know there’s a lot of hard work to be put in. “We were happy for the boys to have Monday off and they said: ‘No, we want to be in’, as we do every week. The players are equally as pragmatic as the coaches.”
