MARK McCall described Maro Itoje’s display as ‘brilliant’ and added that Itoje’s energy did not surprise him.
“Maro looked full of energy, full of life. He was deservedly man of the match and that will give him a lot of confidence going into next weekend (European Cup quarterfinal with Leinster). No surprise to us.”
He continued: “Sometimes when people tell you that you look tired then you can feel tired. Maro is not that kind of individual. I think he proved that today.”
McCall added that he had injury concerns about Owen Farrell (quad) and George Kruis (back), but was otherwise reasonably pleased with the win that took Saracens to second in the Premiership.
Quins boss John Kingston said defeat had extinguished their hopes of European Cup rugby next season.
Kingston was critical of his defence: “At this level you cannot gift tries as soft as that.”
He added that his side had been crippled by injuries. “We have been done by unavailability of players this year – it’s been horrendous.”
