Hard-man Stan never backed down

Enforcer: Stan Pilecki

STANPilecki, something of a cult hero at Queensland and with Australia, has died after a short illness aged 70 after a remarkable journey, sporting and otherwise.
Pilecki was born on a bitter frozen February 4 morning in 1947 to his Polish parents in a wooden refugeee camp in Augustdorf in Germany, where conditions were grim to say the least.
Three years later his family emigrated to Australia and settled on the Gold Coast where he played his early rugby for Marist College before spending the best part of a decade working on the oil rigs. In between times he played...
