EMOTIONAL new Gloucester head coach Johan Ackermann credited his side’s spirit after getting his reign off to the best start.
He said: “We showed fight for the whole 80 minutes, which is all I could ask.
“Credit to the defence, they put everything on the line. It’s not often you beat the champions so we’ll embrace that and enjoy it.”
Ackermann, who recently led the Lions in a Super Rugby final, admitted to being stunned by the Kingsholm atmosphere.
