TIGERS lock Ed Slater urged his side to build on this performance
On the day of his 100th Premiership appearance, Slater said: “It's great to get five points but we have to kick-on.
“The reality of our situation means we're scrapping for everything and we can't afford to go into Bristol next week half-arsed.
“There've been question marks – our forwards are not dominant, the backs don't score tries – but today we were better.”
Head coach Aaron Mauger saluted Maxime Mermoz's try-scoring home debut.
He said: “The last time Maxime scored at Welford Road was for Perpignan in 2009 when he ran past me and Geordan Murphy!
“He's integrated really well and there's plenty more to come.”
With next season's coaching structure at Tigers in the air, Mauger added: “I'd love to stay. It just depends what that role is.”
Gloucester boss David Humphreys lamented his side's display.
He said: “That's far and away our worst of the season.
“We were second best to everything, had no competitive or physical edge and our set-piece let us down.”
Asked whether talk of Philippe Saint-Andre taking his job is a distraction, Humphreys added: “No. Our owner and CEO keep us in the loop.”
