Steve Brown told us in October there would be a prudence measure by the RFU to reduce spending by £4- £5m in the next financial year.
The implication was that this would be split between the professional and amateur sectors. However, it appears the RFU are now seeking to reduce spending by £10m, and that £5m of those cuts will come entirely from the community/amateur game.
This is potentially extremely damaging to the sport at a time when player numbers are falling at grass-roots club level.
