Division Three Round-up

MARLBOROUGH scrumhalf Jake Williams was the hero for Dorset & Wiltshire as they snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against Sussex.

Neither side deserved to lose this game after entertaining both sets of supporters and it was the visitors who broke the deadlock through flanker Joe Spurgeon.

His score was converted by Carles Casanova.

But that was soon cancelled out when Swindon wing Ollie Wilson touched down in the corner for Dorset and Wilts with North Dorset fly-half Sam Baker slotting the conversion to level the scores.

With 20 minutes gone, Trowbridge's Andrew Twinney touched down beneath the visitors' posts and with Baker stroking over the conversion the home side led 14-7.

On the half-hour Trowbridge centre Shai Bonnick capped a fine move with a try again converted by Baker, but on the stroke of half-time Sussex scrumhalf Matt Walsh caught the Counties defence napping from a quickly taken penalty to score.

And the Sussex comeback was complete when Hove full-back Bryn Garrish went over with Casanova converting to level the scores.

Casonova then smashed over a 55-metre penalty to put his team ahead but with the referee checking his watch Dorset & Wilts had enough left in the tank for one effort.

And after three attempts to drive over the whitewash Williams picked up the ball and lept over the top of a ruck on the Sussex line to touch down for the matchwinning try.

Baker landed the conversion in off the post to seal a dramatic victory for the home side.

In the only other Division Three game, were handsome 76-27 winners over Buckinghamshire as Jack Robinson scored a fine hattrick.

Ian Jefferies, Tom Emery and David Hyde all went over twice for Oxfordshire with Connor adding a tenth try as the home side ran riot.
