EASTERN Counties held on to beat East Midlands despite Lawrence Rayner’s late score for the hosts in a see-saw battle at Ampthill RFC.
After an opening quarter littered with errors, Joe Bercis opened the scoring for the East Midlands on 20 minutes with Josh Sharp converting for an early 7-0 lead.
Counties replied just minutes later though through Austin Beckett with Ben Penfold adding the extras but Karim Lynch restored the hosts’ advantage after a Bercis break.
